Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between Bangla and English digits?
The numbers are the same; only the symbols differ: 0123456789 = ০১২৩৪৫৬৭৮৯. In Unicode they are separate characters, which is why one has to be converted into the other.
Why are the commas placed as ১,২৩,৪৫৬?
In the Bangla and wider South Asian convention, the first group is three digits and every group after that is two (the lakh–crore system). The international convention would write 123,456, in groups of three.
